Like I care about the reputation of those Greek generals? From what I read the competent Greek generals were sacked in favor of political appointees by a newly elected Greek administration. It should be asked not that the Greeks lost but how theyeven managed to get so deep into Turkish territory before they lost?

In addition the withdrawal of Western European support to the Greeks as a reaction to events in Russia also needs to be remembered. The Greeks had asked permission to occupy Constantinople as a counter reaction to events happening in Anatolia and were denied this by the Allied powers for fear that Constantinople in Greek hands would allow the Russians to have access to the Mediterranean Sea and then (to the ever great fear of the Anglos) access on to the Indian Ocean.

DUH! Because they waited for the armsice to be implemented, the Ottoman army demobilized and disarmed, and then attacked the defenseless rural population, that's why! Now explain how come they could not hold what they grabbed?

Could it be because they had fallen out of favor with their masters behind whose skirts they were hiding? Whom they embarrassed by taking advantage of them and being disloyal? A reputation which has followed you for centuries Pericles!
