Anyone counting on the PLA as an instrument of state is counting on a mighty slender reed--their recent track record is very poor. It's very likely that the US non-military response would cripple China's economy.

If the Chicoms invaded Korea after a ROK-led reunification (assuming the NKPA was the initial aggressor), there's every chance that the PLA intervention force would be stuffed and mounted on the wall next to the NKPA. The ROKs are probably one of the best small-nation armies in the world outside of Israel.

Would the Chicom government survive the humiliation of losing what amounted to a sideshow for the United States?
