We have toy guns all over the house. Our 3 year old loves to "shoot the bad guy."

My 30 month old manchild clings to my ankle like a probation/parole bracelet whenever I take out my frontloaders for cleaning or put on my real tree cammo for whitetail hunting.
I was 8 when I shot my first deer with a 20 gauge slug.
Little boys love guns. I keep all mine well hidden and locked away(bedside quick safe for the wheelguns) and he knows damn well that toy guns are not the same. It's instinctive I guess.....his obsession. I'll buy him a Red Ryder at around 6 or so and we'll work our way up from that depending on how he responds.
If he can be quiet, I'd take him into a shoothouse stand at 5 or so....just so he can get a feel for it.
One cannot overstate the importance of passing on firearms instruction and hunting to one's progeny in this day and age. Responsibly of course. In my day, guns and hunting were a given.
