I think it's obviously more than that. There are plenty of good, honest Muslims out there who follow the Koran but obviously not Osama Bin Laden. Not nearly enough of them, and not CLOSE to enough out-spoken ones, but enough to tell me it's not *entirely* due to the Koran. Otherwise we'd be awash in 1.6 Billion suicidal maniacs. And quite literally, humankind would be looking at extinction as we speak.
Personally, I'll keep asking "Why?" until we find-out. And then all of us can work to end it.
Merry Christmas.
We cannot reform Islam because of its fundamental structural flaw. Since there is no hierarchy, there is no religious authority with responsibility, so the loudest and most radical mullah (or ayatollah) gets the most notice.
There is another flaw in Islam -- it has no independent morality. That which is done in the name of Islam is good, that which is done for the detriment of one Muslim is bad. Us vs. them. Tribal mentality. That's why the US never gets credit for humanitarian help and always gets blame for opposing Muslims. That's why Saddam is the good guy in the Islamic world. He's crypto-Islamic, so he's good. Iraq is a Muslim land (dar-al-Islam) so it's a good place that can't be desicrated by the infidels.

I'd call you a Pollyanna, but that would be too charitable on my part.
