Now that Al Gore has taken himself out of the 2004 presidential race, he should do the country another favor and step out of the spotlight.

Gore's decision not to seek the White House is hailed by Democrats as a supreme act of citizenship by a man willing to sacrifice his ambitions to avoid renting apart the country with a 2002 replay.
