Even if the Marine is still in the forces, he might ask his commanding officer if it would be okay to tell his story to the media.
No one should be allowed to abuse a US Marine (or other active duty soldier/sailor/airman) on duty in this country -- especially a US Citizen -- let one someone like the First Lady.
