You call it pessimism, I call it reality. "War" is a great diversion. I see an erosion of our freedoms by someone you people trust, while I don't trust him. He's just another opportunistic politicain, nothing more, nothing less. He swore on a Bible to uphold the Constitution and has violated that sworn oath on three occasions as have the "rubber stamps" in both houses of congress. The fact that the "right people" DID NOT place an expiration date on section 802 is very telling. Don't you find it just a bit curious that most of the obscenity mis-named the patriot act has a four year lifespan and this section doen not?

If clinton has proposed these laws, you would have jumped all over him and rightly so.

See, dude, that's where we diverge in our viewpoints. Perhaps you are right and Dubyuh is the second coming of Ghengis Khan, but his actions to date have not been those of a Power-Hungry would-be Tyrant, IMHO. So you seem to be going out of yer way to make the case that Bush is secretly expanding his Powers so as to...to what?! Is he gonna use the IRS to punish his political enemies...a la Osama bil Clinton?! Is Dubyuh gonna send the Secret Service over to the MudCave to try to intimidate a lowly FReeper who may disagree with his policies?! I don't think so...you apparently do.

So let's talk about something else and we'll look back at this conversation in a few months or a few years and see whose prognostication is closer to the mark. Fair 'nuff?!
