The hymn Lift Every Voice and Sing, which James Weldon Johnson wrote in 1900 and which is popular in the black community contains these lines:
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Peterson's article shows us what can happen when we stray off the path.

"Lift Every Voice and Sing" is the anthem for a separate, black nation. Are you sure you want to promote its message?
