My question wasn't about the ACLU's racial biases, real or imagined. I highlighted the last sentence for a reason:

So we called the ACLU, figuring they existed for just such incidents as these. And they do apparently...but only if we were minorities. That’s what they told us.

Do you really believe that the ACLU, however biased they may (or may not) be, would tell a caller that?
