I am being obtuse? What is your solution? According to you, the "morons" who make our lives miserable at airports, should just "know" that 'we' are OK and should let us go and should "know" the guys who are gonna bring down the planes and stop "them". Are you for real? You aren't really grasping yet that there is a war on. They declared it in no uncertain terms. But a lot of Americans haven't yet lifted their heads from their Cheerios long enough to get how serious it is. Obviously.

Well, you are 9 people in the first 50 posts who took sides against Mr. Monohan.

That concerns me.

There is a false conservatism, the conservatism of trusting the status quo and this is closely related to authoritarianism -- and then there is the true conservatism that seeks for principles, then to help get them applied, helping to make sure that it is the individual who empowered.

Clearly, these Portland screeners were (are?) behaving in an unprincipled, abusive fashion even to the point of endangering those they are supposed to serve, and the author has served us in demostrating that to us, from his truly traumatic experience (or do you think it's just fine to cause someone to cut your wife open?).

Thank you very much, Monohan family.

If you consider this post as lecturing, well then I'm lecturing and if the lesson fits....

"Looks like your baby’s gone breech." When she later spoke with her midwives in Los Angeles, they wanted to know if she’d experienced any type of trauma recently, as this often makes a child flip. "As a matter of fact..." she began, recounting the story, explaining how the child inside of her was going absolutely crazy when she was crying as the police were leading me away through the crowd.

Contact an attorney and have him take the case on a contigency basis and have him file a civil suit against the TSA and the airport officials in Oregon...medical costs, pain and suffering, blah, blah, blah. I don't believe his behavior would enter into it. It just might have legs.

It is the correct thread.

The contrast here is startling and it shows this misguided effort at our nations airports for the farce that it is.

It's all to make the cowards feel safer. It's for show.

It's to let you know the politicians in washington are (harrumph) "on the job" when nothing could be further from the truth.

I was searched thoroughly at SeaTac. Very embarrassing. I wont be flying again just to avoid the hassle of flying which I have always hated. And also knowing that these a$$'s will not be getting dime one of my money.

My point is that unless you've experienced the TSA, you may not fully appreciate the experience.

I know all about it, Pregnant women feel like big, fat cows.

Nope, I never felt like a "big fat cow". I did however think I looked like a pouter pigion. (Little skinny legs and a big belly).

Eric, eric, eric. She wasn't groped, oh get a grip. And she did not disrobe. She showed the guard the top of her pants to prove they weren't contraband. That is not disrobing. Young man, I think you may be in the wrong century here,,the one where women didn't show their ankles. And it was a woman who "touched" her breasts,,for crying out loud. If she is going to have a baby, you don't wanta hear about it, she needs a supportive husband, not some clod making an idiot ofhimself over a silly issue. And breasts are just breasts,,a touch over the clothing is hardly a major thing for goodness sakes. This aint the Jerry Springer show.

Thank you very much, Monohan family.

Yeah, thanks for reminding all of us that if you behave like an a**hole, there will be repercussions. Of course, I already knew that so I guess, thanks for the entertainment

Both sides have a responsibility here, and you are only recognizing one side.

The screeners have to be reasonable, and so to the passengers. The way to handle a problem is not to blow your top in the middle of the airport. There are useful ways to protest something, and counter-productive ways.

They would have made the wedding but for the temper tantrum. This is not about pregnant women, but shouting men.

I've got a solution for this: I am simply never going to fly anywhere, ever. I practically live in Heaven anyway, and if I can't drive or take a train there, I won't go. Advantage, me.

LOL!

But saying that to a pregnant woman would be absolutely suicidal..

Women can say it and laugh about it. If the man tried there would be total and complete silence for the next 6 months.
