Geez, no wonder the indians wanted to exterminate the pilgrims.
It took the rest of us 100s of years to undo the bad impression your ancestors made on them.
Did great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa Ficklin get off the boat and call the indians that came to greet them a bunch of naked, heathen, "knuckledragging" savages?
This country was not founded on the basis of national origin, race, color, religion or creed, but on principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, which constitute the catechism of our civil religion, if you will. And anyone who adopts and truly believes in those principles (that we are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness) and is willing to work hard and take responsibility for their own actions has what it takes to become an American, as far as I'm concerned, be they black, brown, yellow, red or green (to all those frothing at the mouth at this, I'm not advocating ILLEGAL immigration, for crissakes). When is the last time a Mexican terrorist blew up an airplane? Put the border control where it matters.
