There are two substantially different views on the issue and neither expects to change the other. It is , however, worthwhile to look at the credibility of each side.

On your side of the issue is a group whose opinions and beliefs are based information that they recieve from sources such V Dare, American Patrol, FAIR, Pat Buchanan, etc, etc.

On my side of the issue is a group whose opinions and beliefs are based on information that they recieve from sources such as the Dept of Labor, the Census Bureau, the Congressional Research Service, the CATO Institute and other free marketeers, the National Center for Policy Analysis, etc, etc.

Now let me point out two things to you regarding these two sets of "authority".

1. Several, most, if not all, of these nativist websites have been banned from Free Republic. Sure, you'll find pieces of info from these places scattered and unattibuted amongst the replies on almost all of the immigration threads, but the never appear as a stand alone article.

2. When information is considered by those who make decisions of policy, the nativist websites are not considered. When Alan Greenspan goes before Congress to make a presetation on the labor supply, immigration quotas, and inflation, he won't be using any statistics from V Dare. When Congress considers the pros and cons of illegal immigration as a relief valve, they won't be consulting Pat Buchanan.

You and the rest of your crowd are certainly entitled to your opinions, but don't expect those opinions to count for much.

All mentioned groups operate within the beltway and are suspect to scrutiny. We read the Census Bureau, too. Look up what percentage of illegal Mexican nationals make up the prison population of California. I wonder how much it cost to feed, house, and watch over these non-American criminals just there.

That's nice and wise of you to allow the 80% of us who want the borders closed and laws enforced (read the polls) to have our opinion. Thank-you so much Karl.

Btw, you're wrong about American Patrol.com, most of the info anyone can gather from that site are links to news stories that report the heinous crimes illegal aliens are committing. The people of California for example don't need studies to know they're 35 billion dollars in debt thanks in large part to millions of lawbreakers and the pandering politicians you support.

Since I deal with this problem every day in southern Arizona, I can easily say that the websites you mentioned are very accurate in what they present. I have found organizations like FAIR and CIS present far better depictions of the extent of the problem than the talking heads of INS ever will.

As more people are becoming aware of the extent of the problem of ILLEGAL immigration, any public officials who arbitrarily blow off the statistics and information provided by these organizations/website will do so at their own peril.
