That strong Democratic bent is, in general, based in Seattle. The state itself looks to me like it is leaning ever more Republican. The state's economy is down the tubes, there are rumblings about a state income tax...all the usual signs of a state that is ripe for a Republican conversion. This is yet one more statement that we could use to accelerate the progress.

Anyone hear anything from Jennifer Dunn, our Republican Congresswoman, on this yet?

Just like Oregon, where the tail (Portland) wags the dog (most of the rest of the state, excluding the PRE Peoples Republic of Eugene). Where there's no money for schools, but plenty for more bikelanes. Where obscenely wealthy law-flaunting athletes pony up the difference to ensure there will be spring sports for city high schools.

How appropriate that the tail is in proximity to, and actually protects the you-know-what....
