Local Detroit TV Station sending Winter Solstice e-cards?

Talk about politial correctness!! On the Detroit WDIV TV web site, in the section for holiday e-cards, they have "Winter Solstice" listed right there with Christmas and they don't even list Hanukkah!

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Editorial; Miscellaneous; US: Michigan
KEYWORDS: christmas; solstice; wdiv
I'm new here (been a lurker for a long time) and probably could have picked a more important topic to post on, but this really boils me. I realize that not everyone celebrates Christmas, but to rank the solstice right up there with Xmas and to exclude Hanukkah is pretty insulting. I sent them a terse reply in their Feedback section. Perhaps I'm a kook, but this type of political correctness bothers me a great deal. The Detroit media is getting worse and worse when it comes to this sort of thing. I encourage other Michigan Freepers (and others) to let them know how you feel (if you agree with me, of course). If you actually celebrate the solstice, sorry.

I am surprised the station didn't have a Ramadan card. After all, a large Muslim population lives in Detroit.

Anyway, I agree that political correctness has gone way too far. The phrase "Merry Christmas" is now regarded as hate speech to some liberals. I believe that political correctness is nothing more than a plot to sanitize American culture of its Judeo-Christian spiritual heritage. After all, why would the liberal media promote the Winter Solstice, a Druid holiday, while dumbing down Xmas?

Maybe because Hanukkah has been over for a long time? Did you check during Hanukkah (Nov 30-Dec 7,2002)?
