Great news.....
I think a terrible mistake has been made by Republicans in forcing Sen Lott to relinquish his majoriy leadership...
The dirty dems will find a way to use this to take back control of the Senate, House and White House...
boy I hope I am wrong again :)
You're seeing things thru the CNN Lens. It's optically distorted, which is why you're not seeing the true picture.
What you've just seen is a textbook example of a President taking lemons and making lemonade. Lott has been an ineffective leader - and, while his comments about Thurmond were unfortunate, at least they DID provide a golden opportunity to accomplish something that the GOP Senate Majority heretofore has lack the intestinal fortitude to do - dump him for someone who'll be effective and virtually bulletproof.
And the big loser here is the Media, who virtually enabled it all to happen.
Michael
The dems get black eyes, while we get knocked out:
Newt
Livingston
Lott
Are three that come to mind as good men done in by the democrats, not for any great crime, but simply because they are Republicans.
The Democrats are, simply stated, in an ideological war against Republicans and Conservatives. They will do anything, legal or not, they will accept any disgusting behavior on the part of their own (Torricelli, Clinton, Rodham-Clinton, Jackson, Kennedy (Chappaquidick), Kennedy (sexual assualts), Kennedy (a drunk)), while simultaneously destroying anyone who stands in their way, no matter how trivial the incident. They do this without shame, without embarrasment, with a straight face and then claim to have the high ground.
They disgust me with their vengence, pure hypocracy and lack class.
Now we need to replace Lott with someone who can stand up to them............if we have anyone.
I'd welcome anyone who can do that.
If I don't get the chance before then, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
The media has always been a bunch of losers, or at least 80% of them. I still think this is only the beginning of things to come in terms of what the dems are going to dig up on other Republicans.
It took him two weeks to do this. Two weeks was way too long. He did a lot of damage to us, before he admitted defeat. He made the right decision in the end, thankfully.
But your kidding yourself if you think the party was his first priority. His first priority was saving his own butt. Only after it became clear he was toast, did he stand up, like a man, and say:
Ok. Dems, you got me on this one. But screw you if I am going to give you the Senate, I am not Jim Jeffords.'
Trent Lott has been a loose cannon, preening his own pompadour and ego and ignoring the GOP agenda for many years. Trent Lott's concern has been one thing and one thing only: Trent Lott.
Good riddance. It's about time.
Door, slam, butt.
1) He got rid of Lott who is a Republican lite.
2) He puts someone better as Majority Leader, but at the same makes the opposition think they won.
3) The Dems look bloodthirsty and bad to the voters for the next election.
4) The 'Minorities' see that 'racist statements' will not be tolerated by the G.O.P. (like we did with Klan's man Duke.)
5) Stir the DNC to boot Byrd (we hope.)
I'd like to have the name of one politician in either party who doesn't think the same way. All these jerks may disagree on lots of issues, but they all agree on one thing: they're going to see each other in office next year.
