This is interesting. I lived in Bermuda for several years in the mid-80's as an ex-pat.

Bermuda has a resident population of about 50,000 people living on 21 sq miles of small islands. They have a few schools consistent with a population of that size, and they brag about them to anyone who will listen.

However, most of the ex-pats, and others who could afford to do so, sent their children off-island because the Bermuda schools really did not provide a good education, in spite of their claims to the contrary. One family who did send their child to the best schools in Bermuda had to provide extensive remedial training for him when they subsequently returned to the US during his late elementary school years.

It seems that the Douglases have put appearance over substance once again. but then again, what else can one expect.

The point, as I see it, is the Douglas's kids will be safe & well cared for, by someone else, while they are free to come & go as they please. They can always be tutored.

A fellow student from Bermuda was in one of my classes several years ago. She said the schools were good, but... Kids had to take tests to get into them, so the best schools were very good, but not available to the entire population. And students had to live there; leave home, parents and live at the school. This young lady was a good enough student among her class mates, but no thanks, I'm not packing my children away to live at a public school!
