You seem to know Jim Robinson and some of the admins here at Free Republic.

I am puzzled by the poll on Lott ( question: Regarding Lott) that took place this morning and is displayed on forum page screen bottom right corner.

If Free Republic views discussing Lott's current problems as a hate crime why did Free Republic conduct the poll?

Especially give the results.

I think it's kind of Mr. Robinson's version of a political circuit breaker for highly charged disputes.

That and maybe, just maybe the results aren't just for internal use.

Which would be great actually. I mean, if you want to know where the hardest of the hard right comes down on an issue, FR's the place to conduct such a poll.

I think they should make the results avaliable to anyone who's interested..

Because it is fairly obvious that Lott cannot remain ML. He is now in the final stages of the Stockholm syndrome. The only support Lott has received is in the cowardly reaction of the GOP to a phony racism charge. That damage is going to be long lasting because the next ML, whomever it is, will not challenge anything that has the slightest hint of racial bias IOW every domestic program that comes before the senate.
