"The Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key, shivers & tears.

"Proud to be an American" by Lee Greenwood, shivers & tears.

"My way" by Francis Albert Sinatra, shivers.

"Amoure (sp)" by Dean Martin, just a good drinking song.

"Under The Boardwalk" by...I don't whom, youthful memories.

"Surfer Girl" by the Beach Boys, fond youthful memories of the first girl I ever fell in love with.

"I Get Around" by the Beach Boys, fond youthful car memories ("Fun, Fun, Fun" combines youthful romantic memories with youthful car memories).

"Walk On By" by Little Anthony & The Imperials, youthful heart break memories. Throw in a dose of "Big Girls Don't Cry" by The Four Seasons and you've got some good 'cry in your beer with your buds' songs.

"Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers, well...I never missed with that one in my misspent youth (if you know what I mean)and it still works to this day on my wife.

"Louie, Louie" & "Money" by The Kingsman, loud mouth youthful drunk songs.

"Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones, because the first time I ever got hammered, just as I was feeling the 'buzz' it came on the juke box and the more hammered I got the more it played. That still happens to my from time to time.

Mendals "Messiah", most spine tingling and inspirational, tears, shaking, and trembling.

Many, many more, but these top the list for me.

It's always amazed me how every human being ties such vivid memories to a song. I don't think that we could create a drug that could do this as well as a song can do that very thing. Of course that same song can be a double edged sword. For instance, "White Christmas" at home, on Christmas with friends and family is quite different when you hear it in a combat zone all alone. "I'll Be Home For Christmas" was always the one that hit me hard. Drop a note to a GI defending us, he'll get hit hard too. Christmas is the hardest day in the world for a GI in combat. I know all about that. So, send a greeting to a GI for Christmas and tell him how proud, and thankful you are that he is making this sacrifice for you and our country. It helps to keep the tears in.
