Obviously the Spanish system of colonization was better than the English. That's why the Spanish ex-colonies are all so much more prosperous than the English ones.

THAT single sentence reduces this paper to nothing more than propagandist drivel. Footnotes, factual references, reliable sources do not provide adequate camouflage for the authors agenda.

A better study would be the effect of "English Common Law" and Continental, "Napoleonic Law" upon Anglo America and Hispanic America, respectively. This made a considerable difference in the destiny of the two worlds that lingers to this day.
