This is going to keep happening to Republicans until we stop being worried about whether or not we're all thought of as racists. It's going to keep happening until we start tackling this with the mountain of historical facts about the Republican Party's history on civil rights.

That's what I've been thinking. Half the people calling for Lott's head have said, "No one really believes he's a racist, that's not the point...." And they're right. The REAL point is, not-a-racist is no longer ENOUGH. Now, if you're white and a conservative, you have to prove that race is your TOP PRIORITY.

Bingo! (But, worth noting: Only Democrats/Libs hold the ever-lower bar; only Republicans/Conservatives have to do the Limbo underneath.)
