Its not embarassing to me to want a neighborhood that is relatively crime free, has decent schools, and to not feel targeted by youth gangs. Unfortunately, these seem to be correlated with neighborhoods that have a high black population. I don't think that acting on the basis of experience and observation is prejudice. To the contrary, acting a certain way in spite of experience is wishful thinking--which is a prejudice to observed facts.

As Thomas Sowell says, and you point out, it is culture that is the problem, not skin color.

Amen. I have lived and worked in plenty of "integrated" neighborHOOD's. It's not a lot of fun being a crime victim on average of twice a year. Then there is the never ending helicopters, sirens, gunshots, and squealing tires from police cars and ambulences. Nobody likes living in these places whatever their skin color is. For whites there is an additional reason to want out, affirmative action. You can not change it but you can escape it.
