Just heard an interview on Fox. They had an automated pollster as a guest. I'm sorry I missed his name.
Using automated polling, the pollster can reach as many as 500 people per day, and 15,000 - 2,000 people per issue.
They did a poll after 2002 to find out who voted Democrat or Republican, and why.
Accordoing to this pollster, America is heading into a new GOP generation. It turns out investors account for 65% of the population, and that 65% voted Republican.

The average African-American male lives to about the age of 65. If an African-American male pays for Social Security all his life, there's a good chance he may never be able to collect. Social Security starts at the age of 65.
Sooooooo. The Social Security plan the Democrats support is, in effect, racist.
Bush wishes to pass legislation to allow everyone- reguardless of color- 2% to do what ever they want with the money. That way, the average Black male may at least be able to leave some for his family.
If the African-American wishes to ivest that money.....They'll understand why people vote Republican!
This is good for Bush's Social Security plan for African-Americans, plus it brings in new voters.

I trust Scott about as much as I trust the people I work for, which is a number between Nil and Zilch.

Unfortunately, Rasmussen's polling computers can't predict voter fraud. Assuming measures can be taken in the future to guarantee better integrity in the election system, this method of polling may be the wave of the future. It cuts out push-polling bias, as well as lets people be more candid (i.e., people are less likely to lie to a computer).

He said now they use automation. It's like a recording people answer to. It just calls everyone anywhere. It reaches more people than the old way so they get a better idea from the larger numbers.

Scott Rasmussen missed badly on his projection of the 2000 Presidential election, as I recall.

Automation is still flawed. People who are broke and owe money don't answer the phone for fear of bill collectors. People who are active in their community, aren't home to receive the calls. I would like to see how then randomize the calls, and what times of day they call. Do they for example call 500 people around 11am and 3500 around 7?

Got burned in 2000. Color me cynical.

Because of the effects of telemarketers, I don't see how there can ever again be good phone polling.
