Man's body formed by God, the man's soul made by God and man's spirit created by God. The discernment in those terms express considerable meanings with regards to more profound doctrinal arguments.
Further doctrinal issues regarding death, separation, disposition of body, soul and spirit, parallelism to the domains of other creatures and their dispositions wrt body, soul, and spirit are bases I've found to help my understanding of Scripture immensely.
All too frequently, I find the original Greek and Hebrew to be very valuable to discern these finer yet very fundamental points. Once discerned, it's amazing how simple and straightfoward literal interpretation of Scripture has become.

Yes, I rely on the Interlinear Bible to get through some confusing passages.
But I've found if one just concentrates on the words of Jesus (and maybe Paul), in any language, His truth prevails.
I'm not sure what you mean by "parallelism to the domains of other creatures..."
