The buildup of U.S. forces in the Middle East, while U.S. forces are also deployed elsewhere in the world, and are also deployed in the States, is an incredible show of military power, don't you think? Americans need to see photos like these every day, to remind us that we are mightily defended. The display is not lost on the rest of the world, either, eh?

The Lefties must be pi$$ing their pants over it. And the display can only have a salutarious effect on Muslim countries around the world, reminding them that al Qaida and Saddam are already defeated!

I think the reason the E.U. loathes to admit Turkey is because Turkey has a powerful military, which the Lefties hate because they fear military power, and know they cannot easily manipulate and control any nation powerful militarily. But the E.U. also is prejudiced against Turkey because Turkey is an American ally.

Being "for us" or "against us" in this war on terrorism is fast becoming an offer others can't refuse!

I rather hope the Canadians are still in Baghdad when the bombs start falling. The twits!

mans a gun aboard The USS Mount Whitney

Point of information, and a peeve: USS is a title. No American-English speaker would say "The Dr. Chemist_Geek". USS is a title, like "Doctor," or most accurately, "Miss." Different, huh?

Thus endeth the naval grammar lesson...

USS Mount Whitney

Homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, USS Mount Whitney (LCC/JCC-20) was constructed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company and is named for the 14,946-foot peak in the Sierra-Nevada range in California, the highest point in the lower continental United States.

It is the first ship in the U.S. Navy to bear this name. Mount Whitney serves as the Flagship for Commander Second Fleet/Commander Striking Fleet Atlantic and has a complement of 600 enlisted personnel and officers. Mount Whitney was the first U.S. Navy combatant to permanently accommodate women on board. As the most sophisticated Command, Control, Communications, Computer, and Intelligence (C4I) ship ever commissioned, Mount Whitney incorporates various elements of the most advanced C4I equipment and gives the embarked Joint Task Force Commander the capability to effectively command all units under the command of the Commander, Joint Task Force.

You are correct, Sir, but what do you expect from Reuters?

BTW I'm a chemist_geek too!

Wonderful as usual. Dirty work in the desert, innocent children waiting to be freed and the UN clowns clowning around. Bump for some justice....

I thought there was supposed to be some kind of "Mother Ship" on the other side of the moon. Sure the Soviets had the right moon? I mean, I have this from a pretty good source. Oh, that's right, they are white devils too. Must have drawn the picture or erased the mother ship.

After our troops rammed Arafat down the tank barrel, does he beg to be let out in a leetle beetie voice?

Beeyooteefull rainbows, which will appear after the rain of fire on Saddam's theme park, Camelanusland.

Forced labor for terrorists--what a concept! I just thought, hey, heads in jars.

This power comes out of goodness: the people here are perfecting lasers that hit artillery shells--then go home to hug their families.

Thank you for your daily rainbows.

"This is from me to those that have not written yet, please write, use it,
tell about your family, your hobbies, how the weather is, what are you planning for the holidays.
Tell a funny thing that happened, send a joke anything. Tell about your pets and kids.
We miss home and it means a lot to hear from everyone."

From a US Marine's e-mail

Nice pics. I like the one of the soldiers gathered around the sand table model. I guess in a place like Kuwait, when your commander instructs you to make a sand table model- it can be the "mother of all sand tables" (with all the sand available).

From Reuters, something like, "Evil white male oppressor aboard capitalist running pig-dog garbage scow USS Mount Whitney practices intimidation. Women and children hardest hit."

BTW I'm a chemist_geek too!

Cool! I'm doing fuel cell catalyst development. Are you in the field, and if so, what are you doing?

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear,
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes,
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Thank you Dio,great post and great pictures!
I really liked the Kuwaiti rainbow!

KOFI's KLOWNS BECOME KEYSTONE KOPS Near Al-Taji, ~18.6 miles north of Baghdad, United Nations weapons inspectors made a wrong turn, got lost, and inadvertantly entered a site they did not intend to inspect.
Gee I hope Saddam almost had a heart attack!Perhaps Koffi's Klowns MIGHT actually find something if they keep doing this!
