I missed this interview. Did he say that he is now going to work for affirmative action?

Even more than that, he said he has used affirmative action and that the proof is the minorities he has hired!

I have had African-Americans on my staff, and other minorities, but particularly African-Americans, since the mid-1970s ... you can get into arguments about timetables and quotas.
