another quote from tonight.

a Mississippi Republican, then decried some of the leadership in the South. "There has been immoral leadership in my part of the country for a long time."

Asked by BET anchor Ed Gordon whether he had been a part of that leadership, he said, "Yes, I can't deny that. And I, you know, believe I have changed and I am trying to do a better job.

"But, yes, I am a part of the region and the history that has not always done what it was supposed to have done."

I can understand Trent Lott admiting his previous beliefs and positions but he MUST stand on his principles and beliefs now. His remarks about supporting Affirmative Action as of TONIGHT was did it for me. You are either a conservative or you are not, And Affirmative Action is a policy that is what makes up the core of the left and their dis-belief in the American Dream. Nothing comes free and respect will never be a basic human right. Respect is something that must be earned. Affirmative Action flies in the face of self respect and the ability to earn it

"But, yes, I am a part of the region and the history that has not always done what it was supposed to have done."

That can be said for any politician in any part of the country.
