Not Rick.The job requires a smoothie and someone who can cut deals.It's not pretty being Majority Leader, and is it any wonder so few can do the job? You have to be both a parliamentarian, in knowing the rules, and a fixer.A fixer can't really run for POTUS, so that nixes a few more ambitious souls,and what you are left with is a dog's breakkie...

You might be right in your assessment of Santorum....I think he could do the job effectively, and he's rumored to want it......but the point of my comment was, given the four possible choices...would the GOP avoid picking another southerner.....that's why I think it'll be Santorum..

Well, he fixed it so none of Bush's nominees got through, that's for sure.

The job of majority leader is simple: to keep his troops in line. Lott has failed to do this repeatedly. Hastert for all his vices is much better at this.
