Has Lott ever been in favor of affirmative action before? Of course, "affirmative action" is one of those terms that can be defined this way or that, so Lott really has committed to anything.

I'm serious. I didn't know Trent Lott was for affirmative action especially given his voting record.

That was a surprise and a disappointment. Did anyone else know that?

I'm against affirmative action by the way

Lott has always been opposed to affirmative action Torie. Solidly. Not even a waver until now. Recent votes include his opposition to affirmative action programs for minority owned contractors doing business with the federal government.

I couldn't watch this farce but I would like to address affirmative action and it's original meaning. By that I mean I have no problem with the government reaching out to the needy by advertising for jobs in the local newspapers or whatnot.

As soon as you move into quotas and preferences based on height, weight, skin color or accent, you lose me.

It "could be", but considering that "across the board" immediately followed the "I'm for affirmative action", I'd say it's safe to say that quotas are part of that.
