Poised to make his case tonight in a Special Prime Time Interview with Ed Gordon on Black Entertainment Cable Television [8PM EST]..
Trent Lott (R-MS) is now facing more calls to replace him as Senate Majority Leaderfrom top republicans
The school in question is to this day still totally all white. Lott can change his entire position on affirmative action in one week, all he wants, more is coming out.
There is nothing that he can do to please some of you because on this thread alone most of you have been more racist than he has ever been. Hypocrites!
once more
I say that it is not about Lott. It is about a spineless bunch of girly men - a.k.a. the Republican Party, who shrink from a fight.
Jessee Jackson apologized for Hymietown, and all was forgiven.
Why is this Lott thing still a story"
Answer: Because the pubbies are willing to "assume the position."
Bend over and grease up.
However, I am all for scholarships and entry-level jobs open to help kids of lesser means (of all kinds) get a leg up.
*&^*&@%#@#*&@#^(*@(%#
Is that the best you can manage? Hmm, I suppose it is.
You should get a hold of your bad self. Blacks are not a monolith that can be bribed en masse.
It would be quite easy to infer from this satement that you are a.......
But I won't.
My concern is not that he is changing his position, but is he involving the rest of the party in it - saying that he is going to work for the party as a whole to change its position. If he does that, then any removal of him from office can be painted as evidence of racism in the Republican Party.
He may not be that clever however.
Regards, Ivan
It would have been nice for Sen Lott to point out the the voting record the interviewer is attacking is relfective of the Republican agenda. Basically, it boils down to this: They're using race to attack the Republican agenda (reflective of those who pay the bills) and to promote their own agenda (more money from "Washington", ergo, from the people that pay the bills).
Wrong. It hurts me when wasteful uneccessary products get transferred from my bank account to Mississippi, just because Lott has clout. Pork is not conservative. It is a throw back to the machine politics of the democrats, which Lott grew up with of course.
Lott is now going to throw pork around, support affirmative action, and it is only for his job, not for any deep rooted philosophical principle.
This is an adult thread, not your normal banter. If you can't handle grown up conversation I suggest you go back to your normal channel.
It is NOT a disgusting thread. I haven't seen anything dirogertory said against blacks. It is just good discussion.
Lot followed his statement that he would reconsider Pickering with a rather bland defense of Pickering as a good man, he knows his heart, etc. All anyone will hear is that he will reconsider Pickering. Just like all people heard was "if we had we wouldn't have had all these problems all these years". The man has a tin ear.
Notice all the racist wording of their replies. Making fun of people seems to be a favorite past time. Nothing anyone could do would please them. Like I said...a bunch of HYPOCRITES!
Did you notice that one little post about all the "deep south" people? No different from what Trent Lott did. ONLY A LITTLE WORSE because she actually SAID IT.
Highlights?
Lott will be allowed to twist. Most on this forum understand that there was no way Lott was going to make this go away. Bush will not get his hands dirty saving Lott's behind. By the end of the week, the story will be how Lott has lost his "moral authority" to lead.
Good rid. It's of no use to tell Trent to not let the door knob hit him on the way out. He probably enjoys it.
