Poised to make his case tonight in a Special Prime Time Interview with Ed Gordon on Black Entertainment Cable Television [8PM EST]..
Trent Lott (R-MS) is now facing more calls to replace him as Senate Majority Leaderfrom top republicans
I am sure that the President is a very busy man.
And, I am also sure that he is in thrall of the polls. If he had even a bit of principle, he would have used his political capital to assure control of the Senate. Would have laid it out...the blatant hypocrisy that this incident reeks of.
But, Nooooooo
He panders to the PC crap. It turns my stomach
from BET.com, Leah Y. Latimer:
"All the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, our schools, our churches." Strom Thurmond, 1948.
"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years." Trent Lott, 2002

Editor: I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Doris Kovalick for calling me a "DixieCrat." The definition of a DixieCrat is a Southern Conservative Democrat. Which means that I am not a bleeding-heart liberal. Yes, thank you for putting me in the company of great leaders like President Harry Truman, Majority Leader Sam Rayburn and Gov. Lawton Chiles.
It is important to note that the first name of the party was States Rights Party, which quickly became Dixiecrat, partly in response to the decreasing political power of Southern conservatives in the Democrat Party.
Perhaps this is a case of any statement in public that can be interpreted as racist, is, by many who seek to keep the issue alive.
And, perhaps it is not. If I could send in a question (interview is already taped) for Sen. Lott, I believe I would ask, "Would you identify exactly what problems you feel we would not have had, if Strom Thurmond had been elected President in 1948"?
Oddly enough, that is the first question asked.
Where is Maxine Walters?
Just an educated guess.

How mant apologies must one make? If one makes an apology and it isn't accepted, will more apologies do the trick? Of course not.
Lott now looks like a condemned man kneeling before the executioner, pleading for his life. Even if he is spared, the memory of him begging for mercy will live on and render him useless. It should never have gone this far. Either quit or stay, apolgize and tough it out.
Lott stammered through the first question ("Just what did you mean by that remark?") badly.
How are those things?
Unreal...now this guy is trying to get him to name all the racists he's known. LOL
God is finally catching up with Senator Lott. He was stupid during impeachment, now his own stupidity is hanging him.
Regards, Ivan
Who called it?
I'm sorry to hear that. I always wanted Lott to leave but not for this.
