Nobody is forcing Lott to dance.

You don't think he's under White House orders?

I don't get it.You are calling Lott a bum and by forcing him to take your hemlock now, and he ought to be thankful? The people pushing this have got themselves to blame right now, NOT LOTT.They couldn't do this with discretion and in a way that didn't rub his nose in it, could they, and Lott is to blame for their miscalculations?

The amatuers are screaming at Lott for not allowing him to overlook their own screwups. If you want him gone, do it right, not like a bunch of Clouseau's.

Couldn't the assumption that a grammatical mistake is intended to be a mock use of Ebonics itself be viewed as racist?

Couldn't assuming I wasn't being my usual brilliantly witty self be viewed as anti-Pardek?

Before this fiasco is finished Trent will be agreeing to reparations! Step down now Lott before you make too many promises.

Between the reports that I've seen about the BET appearance - which I absolutely refuse to watch - and reports of his meeting with John Lewis, Lott may yet redeem himself with the blacks - but AT WHAT COST?

I say, let him pay that cost himself, but for a damn sight I don't want to see him try to pin that cost on the Republican Party and in particular on the Republican Senate.

I would hope the Nickles, Santorium, McConnell, Frist et al can see through this crap.

Unfortunately, they must do something before Jan. 1. According to the laws of Mississippi, if Lott resigns the Senate, the DemocRAT governor can name a replacement for only 90 days and then there has to be an election. If Lott resigns from the Senate after Jan. 1, the governor can name a replacement who will serve for a full year before there is a special election.

It's time to fish or cut bait. NOW!

Yeah! What he said! Anything at all can be considered racist if you think like Jesse Jackson. I prefer not to be on his side of any issue.

Hey Sink, do you also believe that Lott was "forced" to turn the Clinton "trial" in the Senate into a travesty thus completely undermining the hard work and bravery of the House Republicans? Face the truth. This is all part of a pattern with Lott.

Lott is perfectly happy to make promises, if he retain power.

No it's not. He's not going to step down, so he's trying to save himself.

You're going to have to force him out, and that usually is not a pretty thing to watch.

Really? 51 Senators in a closed room having one vote isn't actually THAT messy.

You don't think he's under White House orders?

He was under White House Orders Wednesday night to say "segregation is immoral" when he phoned in to Larry King. He "forgot" to do so. That is my best guess as to why the White House isn't exactly going to bat for him. They tried to save him from himself, and he ignored the life raft.

I agree the southern states GOP could
not help but be angered by such an
insult. I agree northeasterners would
not make up the difference. Duh!

Damn it. I just checked my cable listings and I don't get BET. I haven't had much of a reason to watch before. I get MTV though. Maybe Lott should have tried to go on Total Request Live.

Not pretty at all.

But, I have a dream. When Dubya grows a spine and makes a statement vis a vis the chattering class.

Of course, he is too deep into it, being involved in the usual conservative tactic, when under attack, circle the wagons and shoot at each other.

Of course, that is giving the benefit of the doubt...calling him conservative.
