I'm fully aware of the socialist Outlaw Democrats and who they cozy up too...nevertheless, Dixiecrats were DEMOCRATS...not Republicans. The Media seems to have a problem making that historical point.

Trent Lott was a young man in 1964 and didn't have a vote in the Senate.

Yet KKK Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) and segregationalist Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC) DID have a vote on the senate floor back in 1964.

For anyone familiar with Cynthia Tucker, the barf alert is implied merely by the presence of her name in the title. Somewhat like seeing Molly Ivins, Robert Fisk, etc.

having searched for her name on FR and reading a few of her articles, i came to the same conclusion (placing her name in the title = barf alert), FreedomPoster. Still i suppose it is not too much to ask to use the ('INSERT ALERT HERE' Alert).

(revelation alert) : )

Ms. Tucker should try living in Boston for a year.

I was thinking of Compton or Bel Gardens...

the dirty little secret that fuels the GOP's Southern juggernaut is that we Southerners just want our government to stay out of our lives and out of our wallets.

I know it was not a coincidence...that the TRUTH has not been told.

In fact...it is by design, and I know that too.

Agree with you wardaddy. I've watched those who have sided with the enemy against a conservative and the following poem has been in my mind the whole time.

The Irish Pig

'Twas an evening in November,
As I very well remember,
I was strolling down the street in drunken pride,
But my knees were all aflutter,
So I landed in the gutter,
And a pig came up and lay down by my side.

Yes I lay there in the gutter
Thinking thoughts I could not utter,
When a colleen passing by did softly say,
"Ye can tell a man that boozes
By the company he chooses" -
At that the pig got up and walked away

(I'll not march to the drumbeat of the race baiters, the democrats, and the leftist media. The company I choose will not side with the enemy, will not offer support and encouragement to their destruction of one of us. If Lott should be removed, then let us do it on our timetable. Only fools think that his removal now will be a positive for the conservative movement. The next conservative to face an attack will only need to remember how Lott was treated. And all these Lott lynchers can be proud that they have contributed to the power of our enemies. Times like these reveal who can be counted on and we can see just why the conservatives seem to have no backbone.)

I'm up in the mountains about 3 hours NNE of you. I like to think that I judge folks by what's inside their head, not the color of their skin.

I find this highly amusing - this Republican administration is far more "diverse" than any proposed Democrat one would have been. I remember when they were listing possible members of a Gore administration - they were predominantly white and male.

What this woman, and I use the term grudgingly, objects to is not racism, it is the existence of the Republican Party, and the charge of racism is merely a weapon with which she hopes to pound it to death.

Regards, Ivan

"A little interesting tidbit about Ashcroft in this article."

Old news.

The interview with Southern Partisan came up during his Senate confirmation. Leahy, Feinstein et al wailed and moaned at considerable length. But, somehow, they didn't get any traction.

Figure it to come around again, though, now that Lott has been lynched. The Dems never shrink from re-visiting old turnips, seeking to wring yet more political blood from them.

For the benefit of people like Tucker and others I just want to ask: why is it racist to have a program where they, Republicans, try to adhere to the spirit of the U.S. constitution? Does she mean that Republicans are racist if they don't believe in special government-sanctioned privileges for certain ethnic groups? Then a great many white Dems are also racist. People like Tucker are either too obtuse or too addicted to government goodies at taxpayer expense to understand the concept of a constitution that does not recognize special group rights. What people like Tucker believe is more like a vendetta...the now-its-our-turn kind of thinking. I'm fairly certain the constitution does not recognize the law of vendetta.
