Lott, Race, and Cowardice In America — Slouching Towards Zimbabwe

In America, a senator makes a dumb statement that many understandably believe displays support for racial segregationist policies which have been discarded years ago. The senator delivers an explanation and apology for the original statement, then another one, and another. Then he promises to further “make it right” by various means, starting with appearing on a nationwide black television network to even further explain himself.
The American news media steps in, and digs up statements from the senator’s past, to further make the case that yes, this man must be a racist. Most of this “evidence” is questionable at best as to linking the present man to racism.
The political party opposing the senator is, of course, ecstatic at the revelations and the man’s political blunder. They make themselves available for the media, put on their most outraged expressions, and demand the senator step down from his position as party leader. All the while the opposing party members shrug off comments that leaders in their party and often they themselves are guilty of far more racism than the senator.
Black American cultural leaders line up to denounce the senator, though they themselves are guilty of open, habitual, and obvious racism toward white Americans. The American news media fails to point this out, in keeping with their longstanding habit.
Longtime friends and associates of the senator step forward, explaining to the American news media that the senator is not a racist, as proven by his words and actions over a period of many years. The media is not impressed, and continues its mission to destroy the senator’s career to see it’s own goals forwarded.
The senator’s own political party does not come to his aid. Many do not want to be associated with the senator, fearing that a prejudiced black electorate will link them to the senator and the foul smell of racism. The President of the United States, with this same fear in mind, repudiates the senator’s remarks without voicing support for the man himself, who the president has known and worked alongside for many years. These same politicians, and the President himself, have continually failed to similarly rebuke black critics of the senator who are guilty of open, habitual, and obvious racism toward white Americans.
One by one, leading activists, writers, political figures, analysts and others who are both in agreement with and against the politics of the senator, come forward to cast their vote. Most agree that the senator must step down as the leader of his political party, even though they provide no evidence that the senator is a racist. Many of these leaders have failed to denounce open, habitual, and obvious black racists.
Meanwhile, across the world, in southern Africa, the president of a country there has mandated a policy to forcibly seize the farmland of white citizens and give it to blacks, and thereby has encouraged all manner of violence and murder against those whites. The situation has deteriorated into near-wholesale slaughter. This president’s country has plunged into economic crisis and famine in a large part due to this seizure, with no end in sight.
Governments in the West have criticized this southern African president’s policies, and the president has now responded, not by apologizing once, twice, or more, but by saying that because of this criticism, the president will intensify this war against his own white citizens.
The American news media is largely disinterested in this story of government-sanctioned genocide and famine in southern Africa, choosing to instead focus on a dumb statement made by an American senator at a birthday party.
American political leaders from both parties are largely silent regarding the racial genocide occurring in southern Africa. They are busy instead positioning themselves far away from the tainted American senator. The President of the United States takes no serious steps to stop the southern African president’s genocide against white farmers. The U.S. President does impose a travel ban to America, but the southern African president openly violates it without American response. The southern African opposition leader is outraged by this violation, but powerless to stop his president.
Black American cultural leaders have said very little in opposition to the southern African dictator’s open genocide against whites, even though the resulting famine is wiping out millions of their fellow blacks. Instead, they are rushing to score political capital by seeking to destroy the career and reputation of a white American senator.
Worldwide pressure from American politicians and cultural leaders would help halt the ongoing race genocide and famine in Southern Africa. Instead, they seek the destruction of a white U.S. senator who said some dumb things at a birthday party.
Failure to stand on principle is cowardice.
Many of those who have caved insist that they are indeed standing on principle, the principle of holding “one of your own” accountable. This is an important principle, but it is trumped by a higher principle—that of insuring fair and equal treatment to all, regardless of color.
There is one more extremely important principle that most American leaders fail to understand—that black racism toward whites runs deep in America, and as we can see in the southern African example—elsewhere in the world. This racism, built on rage, will never be satisfied with a mere apology, or even with money. The only satisfaction to many of these racists will be blood. A failure to stand up to an irrational demand will result in increasingly irrational demands—until there is nothing left to give except life itself.
…Principle having been the first casualty of this war.

Trent Lott currently has a problem with his views on race - it is ongoing, and it is wrong.
Maybe the question that you should be asking yourself is whether you disagree with the concept of legal segregation, and work back from there.
