Penn said his Iraq odyssey, by helping him to be aware of the times he lived in, could play into his professional life.

Oh he's doing research for a new movie. I figured this was all about something really important.

Sure war with Iraq is avoidable. All we need, is for Saddam to step aside, and permit open elections, with him not being a candidate for anything.

We could end the embargo on Cuba the same way, if Castro would simply step aside, and allow an open election.

If the clerics in Iran would turn the reins of government back to the elected officials, that would take them off the "axis of evil" list almost immediately.

The prescriptions for the world are so easy. Trouble is, nobody who is in a position to do so will follow them.

What has got to be most Alice-in-Wonderful surrealistic aspect of the times in modern America is the attention the modern media gives to entertainers regarding foreign policy. It's absolutely astounding to me that these people, few of whom are even college graduates, are courted for their personal opinions on complicated issues, as if they know more than the average citizen.

Imagine if a gaggle of hairdressers, architects, or postal workers held a press conference to tell us what their position was on the War on Iraq. They'd be laughed out the door. Why are these ENTERTAINERS given the time of day?? They're ENTERTAINERS!!! (and not very good ones at that).

Ole Sean is running for Secretary of State because he sure isn't in a lot of movies these days.

These Hollywood actors are worthless. Their only purpose in life is to entertain us on the screen. The only reason half of them are political activists is because people listen to them and react.

Michael Douglas thinks that he has a legitimate shot at getting into British politics because he played one on TV. This is pretty typical. John Belushi was snorting so much coke that he actually thought that he was a legitimate musician. This is probably the case with Mikey, too.

And for those, such as myself, who went to government schools and didn't until recently know what the phrase "Potemkin village" meant, here's a brief history lesson:

Sure, it is avoidable. Just like getting involved in WWII was avoidable. All we had to do was tuck our tails between our legs and slink off, preparing for the day when the Germans or the Japanese reached our shores. How to prepare? Learn their language, plan the "entry celebration" so that we could welcome them with open arms when they got here. Like the Vichy French. Yes, war is completely avoidable for cowards.
