The new newsweek article by Fineman says that Mitch McConnell was the one that, during the conference call, said that if Lott leaves as ML, he would probably leave as a Senator altogether. The article makes it sound like McConnell was speculating, not raising this because he had heard it from Lott personally.

Mitch McConnell was the one that, during the conference call, said that if Lott leaves as ML, he would probably leave as a Senator altogether.

He explained on This Week today that that is what has happened in the past. Everyone that resigned also resigned their seat. He went on to explain that in this case he wasn't sure Lott would do this because MS Democratic Governor.

If this is true and Lott does leave, it won't look to good on him buy throwing his seat to a Dem

He'll look like a traitor

If he stays as ML, he will be hounded as a racist

Any way you look at it, Lott is screw
