Lott's past is riddled with segregationist leanings and he has not done a good job of distancing himself from those leanings. He has done a terrible job during these past days and has dug his own hole, IMO. Regarding the President, I guess some will never be satisfied with him. God forbid he should ever compromise in order to get something done instead of getting nothing done. Staunch conservative 100% of the time? Perhaps not. But, effective leader? Absolutely.

So true. And that's exactly why he was able to accomplish so much in Texas, because he was able to work with both sides.

Nope, just responding to an allegation about seeing the big picture.... And my point is that your allegation can apply to others including youself, just depends upon where you sit and view the arena. Look for a one term President if this continues and screws up his agenda. I think you'll see very little if anything accomplished now in the next two years..... so why stick around. He will pack it in at Crawford an enjoy life doing other things.
