Lott can just announce he's not going seek election to Senate Majority Leader. It's too late. If Nickles had not jumped offside, Lott may have come to the conclusion himself, before January 6.
But now, he'll dig in and go down fighting.
And, he'll go out the door if he loses.
I just heard the smarmy Bill Kristol, crowing like a cock, about how Lott is finished and "it's best for the Republican Party."
When has that little cockroach EVER done anything good for the Republican Party?

"When has that little cockroach..." What a wonderful description of Kristol ;^)

That's what Kristol reminds me of, a cockroach!
The little buggers are hard to kill. Supposedly they would be the only survivors of nuke holocaust.
Will this guy outlast us all?

Kristol sounded more disgusting than usual. He was really gloating.

The problem is the Republicans have already elected Lott as majority leader for a two year term...

When has that little cockroach EVER done anything good for the Republican Party? I agree with that assessment entirely.
Now could you apply that same logic to the Majority leader?
