I doubt he'd be mean to HIS mother; she once wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper down there and told him she hoped a bullet went through his office door and hit him in the head. Signed her name and all; when they called her to see if it was really her writing, she gladly claimed it. BTW, the topic? Segregation.

She doesn't sound like somebody you'd want to mess with.

"But maybe he might get some perks for being the hatchet man from the guy who is."

If nothing else he sure is playing the game with "high stakes."

Yeah, Rice must have thought the talk about the glory days of Jim Crow by Lott was just grand.

To elaborate, maybe the equation in his mind is that Nickles = Delay, and Frist = Hassert. That would be somewhat wishful thinking, because Frist is no Hassert, and the Senate does not equal the House.

I read that last night, but I cannot remember which thread. It's usually held in the latter part of December, but, for some reason, Lott rushed it up to the 12th of November.

OK, Lott said something that could be used by the democrats. He said he was sorry about 5 times and counting! The democrats have a former terrorist in bedsheets as a senior Senator and nobody says a d*mn thing about it! I'd say we're even!

I hated what went on during the impeachment also but its time to move on people! We are in a worldwide war against terrorists and the democrats are their natural supporters in this country and, as usual, they are playing the republicans like a fiddle while they crank up their anti-war machine!

I don't know about you but I don't want to bow down to allah on pain of death! The repubs better get their collective heads out of their a*ses quickly or the game will be over soon!

that he was unwilling to drive 45 miles to Miami, to be able to address this issue. That is the distance to a tv station with satellite uplinks.

You sure West Palm doesn't have an uplink? Or Ft. Lauderdale? Both are closer to Boca than Miami.....

Torie, Lott has no obligation to reveal himself anymore, while Nickles is out got his neck.Let Nickles run with it for a while, if he wants, but a good poker player wouldn't show his cards right now, would he?

But I thought McConnell was already the number two guy and that Nickles out of leadership altogether? Now Nickles thinks they're going to oust McConnell and put him in the #2 slot again?

Oh, I think the jig is up alright... Lott is history and will head back to MS, imo. The blood has been let and dumpen in the water aided and abetted by many factions of the Republican party, Democrats, CDC, NOW, Media pundits, you name it.

But the Republicans will now dance the Democrat Jig for many moons to come.... but that is where they best operate from... bitching and complaining rather than leading.

Reality sucks sometimes.

If they wanted a strong majority leader, they should have voted Lott out before now.

What side of the issue was she on?

Hi, texas! Good to talk with you again! This President has run rings around the RATS and the anti-Bushies can't stand it. Oh, well. His approval ratings remain in the mid-60's because MOST Americans can plainly see that he's doing a heck of a good job.

Hey there! Yes, you're so right, this President's enemies just don't get it.

W stands for Win, and that's what he does. He's had a lot of practice already.

That shows you are smarter than I am. I thought I had read that Nickles was number two. In any event, I do not entirely withdraw the general thrust of my point.

Let me also add....that this is part of a pattern with Lott. If it had only been this one statement, it would be far easier to forgive and move on.

Lott rushed it up to the 12th of November.

Yeah, before the new senators even had a chance to be seated or have a say in who was going to be their leader. I thought it was unfair at the time.

I don't its lost yet... Has anyone besides me even talked to anyone that's heard about what Lott stated? Heck, not even my Black coworker has stated anything to me about Lott...

I think Lott will want to rehabitate himself by staying in the Senate....I think he is out as majority leader though
