No, but I can say I'm tired of supporting people who don't stand up to RATS who try to destroy someone.

The only way he can redeem himself from this and his "other" moments of stupidity is by actionI can see it now--Lott's first proposal in the 108th will be a proposal for slave reparations.

Good grief! Tell me I'm having a nightmare!! NO McCain! He hates the President with a deep passion. He is a bitter, petty little man with a grudge and a near-violent temper. No way should he be leader!

Stated before.(that Lott is threatening to leave the Senate)
Stated before with a source? Where? As far as I know, the story is untrue, and has not been put in print by any news outfit. Kindly provide a source and/or link.

I think Bush wants a STRONG Majority Leader. If it's someone else, fine. If he see's Lott is going to survive, he will come to his aid (now that he has properly scolded him). Lott is only in this position, at this point, because he has proven to be weak in the past.

Judging from the news shows today, we're about to see if Lott will put the party and country before himself.
I wonder how Lott would feel about being the most hated Republican EVER.

The reason the Demorats want Lott gone however, is quite obvious. The Govenor of Missisippi is a Demorat and if Lott is ousted he would naturally appoint a Demorat to the Senate. That would give the Demorats 51 seats and an illegitimate majority.Thank you, that needs to be repeated to the repubs on this board who seem to be carrying water for the DNC!

I wasn't questioning what you said; merely trying to add to it. I guess I didn't do a very good job of it!

I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say about the percentage of Black vote.
I've lived in CA most of my life where most people who live there are racially diverse.
I think its ridiculous to dump on Lott as majority leader because of something he said rather than because he's not a strong majority leader... If we're gonna get rid of him maybe the rest of the Republican Senate caucus should of thought about him and his leadership abilities before 11/13.

Sen Bayh just said on Fox News that no one in the Senate thinks Lott is a racist. He also said he should step down because the issue would dog him, and impair his effectiveness. Thanks for the kind words by the way.

As much as I like to bash Islam, how is that relevant? Because Bush said it? I don't like it, but I'll wait to see what he does. He wouldn't be the first leader to say one thing and do another right before a war.

Lets start here
Bush 'worship' at Shinto Temple troubles Christians in Japan and U.S.

"It was an act of idolatry," says Kiyomasa Akashi, with Logos Ministries in Tokyo. "Even worse, it was an official, public idol worship," Akashi says. "He did bow before the shrine where the Meiji Emperor is enshrined as a god."

If Lott makes it known that he will step down and the GOP railroads him out anyways, all the time, effort and money I have donated to the GOP is thrown out the window You already posted today that you were no longer a Republican. Which is it? Are you lying now or were you lying then? Are you really a McCain supporter or what?

Again, just my opinion. Even if he DID put that rumor out, it would never lead back to him. In spite of withering cross-examination, I still hold that opinion.
To: aristeides
It was leaked in a phone call among 20 senators and Jon Kyl my senator stated he wouldn't be surprised one bit about Lott leaving if forced out...
To: sinkspur
I think you have become so emotionally involved in this situation that you may not be able to see the big picture anymore. If you look back on Lott's record, this is not the first time he has shown segregationist tendencies and it's not the first time he has made segregationist remarks. For you, it seems easier to blame the President than Lott. I just cannot relate to your unbending support for Senator Lott, no matter what the facts are. He didn't even think he had done anything wrong for days and refused to address the issue at all. Then phoned-in apologies, tepid at best. I understand there is no use trying to reason with you on this particular issue so I am no longer going to try. Have a good day, though. God bless.
To: sinkspur
My memory of 1998 is that Nickles did NOT run for ML. He counted votes and dropped his name from the list. His name WAS put out in the press as a candidate, but he never entered the race.
I'm willing to be corrected, if you have evidence to prove I'm wrong.

Or...you could see post #429. Whatever works for you.
