I do suspect a certain amount of disingenuousness on the part of the conservative punditry though. They have never liked Lott and are seizing on this moment to call for his replacement. They are being just as opportunistic as the democrats. Sadly, the performances of many of the Republicans on today's talk shows struck me as being almost analogous to the disloyalty of Judas Iscariot. The conservatives are handing the leader they elected over to their enemies to be destroyed. Right or wrong, this is not our finest moment.

Sorry I made a typo
Oh fine, but = OK fine, but
My point is, yes I will take actions with my child, but it won't stop the bully from moving onto the next kid
The question is, when does someone take a stand and say no more ??

Got me. You take care of your child. I take of my child. Then we can just pray that the trend catches on.
To: Bluntpoint
Lott is a big boy. He can do his own damage control. But not on my time... This is not sunday school. This is politics. There are more important issues in this country that completely transcend Trent Lott and his feelings. If we conservatives don't stick up for our party's leadership when they need the help, they won't be there for us when we need it. The Democrats seem to have a much better understanding of this than we do. I only wish that our opposition's rank and file supporters had the same mercenary and unfaithful dedication to their party's leadership as you have expressed here of yours.

"mercenary and unfaithful dedication "
That works in the other direction too.
Today, Lott owes us some integrety and dedication to the cause. He needs to step down for the good of the party. Let him take care of this mess as a member of senate, but not ML.
He can run again.
To: Mo1
Again, it does not matter what the criminal class does. We need to just keep on plugging away on whats right.
Look past the short term. Honesty and integrity does grow on people.
Every day it gets harder to be a Democrat.

I must have missed that from Lieberman (Woe-Is-Me-berman). I was channel surfing, I confess.
Not sure his being Jewish is relevant, though. If anything, it will work against him because so many lefties think we should be even-handed in the Middle East, as if the corrupt Palestinian government is in any way equivalent to the open society represented by the Israeli government.

***Do black 'leaders' have any credibility in telling Republicans how to act!***
No they don't .. that is why I think yes we need to clean up our house but so do they ..
___________
Maybe we could say to these leaders: "You go first. Your side can clean up one loose-mouth and then we will!"
I don't think we should hold our breath waiting for them to act, though, do you?

Where, I wonder, would we be now with this story if we had circled the wagons and said "no" to another borking of a Republican? The Dems did that, remember, when we went after Clinton. How has it payed off for them?

" I don't have the answers here, I just know it's got to stop"
Whatever happens with Lott,he was just the tune up.It will not stop,it's only going to get worse. Anyone who thinks that having new leadership in the Senate, will make the Maxine Waters and Jesses Jacksons end their litmus tests for Republicans,is naive. My preferred scenario in this mess-would have been for the Republicans of all stripes to have handled this privately and behind the scenes-if Lott goes,it would have been so much cleaner to have it done without the hysterics and publicity. The conduct of everyone-Lott's gaffe and tin ear to the eagerness of many conservatives to be the first in print and on the tube to throw him over, smacked more of their own self aggrandizement, than a genuine concern for the party.Quite frankly,I was disappointed in Nickles today-he has the phone numbers of the other Republican Senators, why make your announcement on the talk shows? If you have the votes, have a new election. Why add more fuel to the fire? This orgy of public self flaggelation by Republicans on all levels, is disquieting and smacks of showboating by some. Too bad they couldn't take a page from VP Cheney and do their business away from the CNN microphone.

Re: Your post #201
Well said, friend.
I just don't know when we're going to learn to fight smart.
To: Hank Rearden
I see your back calling Lott a queer because you are one.I thought we put that litle item of yours to aside awhile back.
To: Bluntpoint
And ... a good observation it is too! Although it may not be very popular.
To: Wait4Truth
Well ... I heard Karl Rove wants Lott out and Frist in. How about that for a mixture??
To: DoctorMichael
Doesn't the idiot making such a call realize he was immediately a target of the Secret Service??
And ... as such, his phone is now tapped, his whole life history is totally known, and basically, he's toast!!
To: jackbill
Yes, it is a double standard - when are the repubs going to get it??
With that double standard, we MUST BE better than they are. Fortunately, it's not too difficult!!
To: CyberAnt
Doesn't the idiot making such a call realize he was immediately a target of the Secret Service?? Nope.
Did you see the replay? I loved the expression of the C-SPAN host. You could see him getting noticeably more and more pissed off as the conversation continued. He tried to ask a reasonable question: "How are you as a British Muslim being repressed?" {Paraphrase}.............but the idiot just kept mouthing off.
Hopefully his identity is now known to the authorities and he will be carefully watched...........if he isn't already. Calling for the deaths of the entire Bush family and Administration is not good for ones health.
