Those who train recruits have a special responsibility to carefully separate those who can from those who can't.

Hogwash. The DIs at the recruit depots don't "carefully separate" nonhackers from their platoons. They eagerly anticipate the opportunity to drop them. If Bruss was a no-load he would have been dropped in first phase long before water survival training. This kid probably had a congenital defect that went undetected.

BINGO! My son got finsihed with Parris Island last May...no, slackers do NOT get to the pool.

A co-worker here, fully healthy Dad(except for undetected heart valve defect), died while working with his son at home. When it's your time....it's your time.

Thankful for another day with loved ones.....may God be with the Marine and family.
