My understanding is that the difference is that the old virus/vaccine was grown on calf bellies which led to higher risk of contamination from other viruses/bacteria. Now it is being grown in a sterile lab environment. Same live virus tho'.

My wife and I had it back in the 60's, and I had it again in the 1970's when I went in the service.
I am worried about her getting it again because her immune system is compromised by COPD and a variety of other problems. From what I understand people who have medical problems may have a better chance of having complications.
She decided she wouldnt take it because of that reason.
As for me, I will take it because I am in good health, and I imagine my kids will too.
