Although never a Lott fan myself, he now has my full support. Despite his ill-conceived comments, we all know he is not a segregationist. He got carried away at an old man's burthday and enough is enough. Anyone calling for his removal is playing into the race baiter's hands.
The double standard in this country is galling. When Republicans play along I remember why we are the "Stupid Party." No Rat ever resigns, except when they are a crook and an election loss is imminent (Torricelli).
The Rats have a rapist/perjurer (Clinton), an adulterer who lies to the police impedes an investigation and is possibly a murderer (Condit), an ex-Klansman who recently said the "n" word on TV and is in the line of succession (Byrd), a man who drove off a bridge and left a woman to drown (Kennedy), a Senator who got kicked off the intelligence commitee for leaking sensitive information (Leahy), a Congressman whose lover was running a prostitution ring out of his home (Frank), and on and on and on. . .. .
Do Rats ever step down, evcept for Toricelli? No! And that was at the last minute because his goose was cooked. What exactly did Lott do??? He praised a very old man on his birthday. A man who has long since ceased being a segregationist. Lott probably wasn;t even thinking of his past. He was just honoring an old man. Big deal. The way some "conservatives" have turned on him is a disgrace. This sensitivity to the race baiters will spell the defeat of our party. Lott is no more a segregationist then anyone else in our party. Despite his weakness in the past, we need to stand up for him and laugh these ridiculous allegations away. It is us (the right) vs, them (the left). Lott is one of the good guys. The way we eat our own is disgraceful.
I'm disgusted with many of the posters and some of our lradership right now. Aren't we smart enough and strong enogh not to fall into the race baiter's trap??
He just plays one on TV (and at birthday partys).
