"Trent Lott, in a conference call with 27 GOP Senate Republicans today, said that he would leave the Senate if forced from the Leader position." When it comes time to defend his own position of authority and perquisites, that Trent Lott turns into one tough SOB, grows a spine and gets enlarged testes.
This is no leader. This is a loser.

What have people around this place got to do with Lotts bad deed. He is the one who made the big mistake and now he wants everyone to take the heat for it. I don't want the Republican party to wear the face of Tren Lott.

I hope people are happy around this place. We would have been happy had he been dumped before he did real damage to the party. Now that he has done it, he wants to go home? And we are supposed to feel bad about that!
Still, if that is his threat, then tell the man he can be leader.

Why, are you buying into Lott's blackmail? He's as low as Jeffords, now.

I hope people are happy around this place. Hey! He's YOUR HERO!
Not mine.

My sentiments exactly. We eat our own and then wonder why we are alone. Our obsession with RACE and his EGO will transform a tremendous victory for conservatism into a Democrat controlled Senate or a disfunctional Republican controlled Senate. In other words we LOSE or we LOSE. Pathetic ending to a wonderful beginning.
