Newt resigned because he was going to be outed for his years-long affair with House staffer Callista Bialek during the House impeachment proceeedings. Newt betrayed his wife and us. He did the right thing by getting out.
Livingston resigned to set an example of responsibility to Bill Clinton and the Democrats. He earned my undying respect for that.
If this report is correct, Lott deserves nothing but contempt.

One other thing, remember when Jim Jeffords tried to barter his position with President Bush? Bush let him walk rather than have terms dictated by Jeffords. Don't think it won't happen with Lott, too.

If this report is correct, Lott deserves nothing but contempt. Lott's done nothing wrong that he hasn't apologized for.
He's not bowing to the race-pimps, or to the I-want-Lott-out-because-he-screwed-up-impeachment conservatives.
Lott makes one statement at a birthday party for an old man and everybody around this place sees chum in the water, and is ready to get rid of Lott for his sins of four years ago.
Lott may leave on his own, but he is not going to allow the hyenas to force him out.
That's a good thing.

Newt betrayed his wife and us. He did the right thing by getting out. Of course. We can't have people in powerful positions that have gotten blow jobs, can we? It's MUCH better to stab him in the back to remove him so it's safe for the Dims to rule again.

dittos on that. I do think it shows extremly poor judgement and that alone makes him a liability. Remember what a stand up guy he was in the impeachment process.... NOT... Replace him, he lacks backbone and good judgement.
