LOTT THREATENS TO QUIT THE SENATE IF FORCED FROM LEADERSHIP
Newsnight with Aaron Brown | 12/13/2002 | Jonathan Karl

Posted on 12/13/2002 7:26:54 PM PST by sinkspur

Trent Lott, in a conference call with 27 GOP Senate Republicans today, said that he would leave the Senate if forced from the Leader position.

Jonathan Karl said three or four of the Senators viewed this as "blackmail," but that the majority still support Lott and want him to continue as Leader.

Actually to many of us, it seems like many of you have just reverted back to your Dixie Crat past. Fond memories of the good old days huh boys?

LOL! Who is us Dave?

And what is with you people that see racist behind every corner and between every line of type?

Forgetting your Dixie Crat smoke, looking at this country now, I would consider American 50 years ago to be a much better country than what we currently have now.

Even with the few Dixie Crats as you call them in the past, I still appreciate the older morals of America, even with the few blemishes, Going back just 50 years, I appreciate the safe cities when no one ever heard of thousands of routine drive by shootings and insane daily murders.

I appreciate the old America of 50 years ago that wasn't being invaded by millions of people illegally that have no respect for our laws. America of 50 years ago would have never put up with it.

I appreciate the old America, where divorce was almost unheard of and most kids had parents that gave a damn.

I appreciate the old America where strangers said thank you and neighbors helped each other.

I appreciate the old America 50 years past where American's were generally a United People, not splintered into races with hyphenated names where most people didn't see racist behind every corner. Where most everyone spoke English and it was just an accepted way. Where legal immigrants were proud as hell just to be here and to be just like American's.

Was America perfect 50 years ago? No. But it is much better than what we have now.

Fond memories of the good old days

Yes Dave, since I am not a politically correct product, I have fond memories of the good old days. I am sure you can't relate.

Ok. Now for a moment assume you werent White. Would you have the same opinion?

Well hell yes I would have the same opinion. Where in the hell have you been?

Do you have any idea how many young blacks are gunned down routinely in the streets of todays America by other blacks?

Do you have any idea how many black kids don't have fathers because they are in the joint for murder, drugs, robbery etc?

Do you have any idea how many young inner city blacks are threatened into joining gangs that leaves many of them dead and bloody in the gutter or on their way to the local ER with sucking chest wounds?

Do you have any idea how many young blacks don't even know who their own fathers are today?

Do you have any idea how many blacks are locked in cages because they wanted to be like the guy down the block or on TV and play the gangster role.

So to answer your naive question, yes, I would have much rather been a black 50 years ago in American, than today.

No question about it.

You're right. The black vote is already lost. But independents -- basically those people who get their news from CBSNBCABCCNN -- vote first with their pocket book and second with their sense of "justice." They want to feel good about who they vote for. And if Pubs are viewed as racists and there is any "there" there, then the indies are going to avoid pubs like the plague. We lose 2% of the indies and we lose the house, the senate and the presidency.

That is why this issue is so critical. That is why we can't bury our heads in the sand and pretend that it will blow over. It won't. The commercials are being prepared as we type. It will be ugly. The dems don't pull punches. they're not nice. They will do anything to get elected. But the Pubs don't even have the guts to dump an idiot when he embarasses all of them.

We don't stand a chance.

You need some music to go with them pictures, so I propose the

TRENT LOTT CHEERLEADING PARTY MIX!

1. Smalltown Boy—Bronski Beat
2. I Feel Love—Donna Summer
3. West End Girls—The Pet Shop Boys
4. In the Navy—The Village People
5. L'Amour—Erasure

This is just a starter set. Let's pile on in an orgy of Trentmania!

He probably listens to Dusty Springfield. He just has that "look of love".

If this is true, it annihilates any shred of respect I have for Lott.

Vision-in this case it ain't everything. His vision was keeping black people dependent on a party for their needs to be met instead of themselves.

Vision-to trust black people to always be afraid of their God given ability to be entrepreneurs and to trust themselves to create wealth.

I'm not taking anything away from LBJ, his record speaks for itself. To judge Lott over these statements as having no vision, difficult to agree. Things could have worked out totally different if Clinton was removed and Gore was seated in his place. That took some consideration.

I agree that there is so much in common with the republican agenda. "My people perish for a lack of knowledge" education is the key. Where should we begin with that education, can't be in the leftist schools. I suppose prayer that those who have believed a lie will have their eyes opened to know the truth.

Aw my GAWD! I forgot about the feather! Check his rear pockets for doo rags!

What we ought to do is get one of his staffers really drunk, convince him that for Trent to get in the good graces of the black community he needs to read the work of Iceberg Slim and Donald Goines and "git down wit it."

Might as well, since he already has an affectation for hats with grandma's peacock feather.

What an EXCELLENT idea ... were I wide awake (and possessed of an ability to remember lyrics and or titles) I'd propose a few tracks for the House --er, Senate-- party CD myself!

He just has that "look of love".

And who are we to fault him for looking for love in all the wrong places?

I see no reason a pillar of the Compassion Party can't realize this snafu's a wake-up call that he's lost that loving feeling.

Where's Jesse Jackson these days? Hymietown? Perhaps we can get him on a plane to come counsel the good Senator and evoke the repentance necessary for all to forgive and forget.

Just what do you base that on? So, he fooled Texans for two terms and then the American people for election as president?

Corporate communist? How utterly ridiculous. Just what "class" is he looking out for? Seems he eschews "class" for his ranch and family and friends. His family does not need looking after - they are doing well.

Ooooh ooooh ...

I'm proposing 'Cause the White Man's Gotta God Complex to the CD right now.

THIS IS MADNESS.

I'm going to get off this racist/segregationist issue now. Lott needs to be replaced for dozens of reasons. The statement he made last week was probably the stupidest statement anyone could have made short of endorsing David Duke for Senator.

The problem with Lott is that he is a terrible leader and a political nitwit. He sold the pubs down the river in 2000 and was rewarded with the defection of Jeffords and an illegitimate takeover of the senate by democrats who at least know that this is war.

Lott let the Clinton impeachment trial become a joke. Certainly we may not have been able to get 67 votes to impeach the b--tard, but because of Lott THERE WASN"T EVEN A TRIAL!

Lott is a MINORITY Leader. He will ALWAYS be a Minority leader. If the Republicans had 70 seats, Lott would make sure that the Republicans acted and looked like the MINORITY Party.

Lott is not fit to lead a boy scout troop. This is a great opportunity for the pubs to pull the plug on this faux-conservative faux-republican faux-leader.

We need leadership. We don't need Headlines.

If Lott says he will resign the Senate if he doesn't get his way, then let him. We'll deal with. We'll deal with it like men. Let us not cave into blackmail by cry babies.

Remember the Terry McAwful images of him as a pimp daddy? Think Trent needs a new look. Mink is in, dear.

You sure have to stretch to prove your belief don't you? "wraslin"?

Nobody does 4 campaign stops a day, day after day unless they hope to win elections. Each stop gained votes - some he visited more than once to bring the votes in. Sure does not sound like wanting to hide behind democrat controlled senate to me.

Again, you are not dealing in reality but in your version of a George Bush. Sure sounds like you bought the democrat spin on this fine man. No kool aid here - I like the man and think it is about time we had a real man in the office of president. On top of that he is honest, he is deliberate, stern and very smart.

You must have been very happy with Clinton in office.

No, your right. This has gone way to far, and has got to stop. Some people haven't any vision, or logic. And the media hype about his own state not supporting him is an outright lie! Sheeple will believe anything and run with it. I just wonder how long before its over? Your thoughts?
Best wishes, and Merry Christmas.

He's not bowing to the race-pimps, or to the I-want-Lott-out-because-he-screwed-up-impeachment conservatives ... Lott may leave on his own, but he is not going to allow the hyenas to force him out.

Is anybody home? Hello? Do you honestly think this is all about Lott?

Excuse me, but Lott is nothing without the Republican Party, and before what should be its grandest Congressional session in decades, this boob has halted the GOP's momentum on a dime, shifted gears, and put the pedal to the metal in reverse!

Now that his big mouth and feeble brain has virtually delivered a shank stick to conservatives' collective shins, he's [allegedly] pulling a Jeffords in order to hang on to his precious power in D.C. when all that will accomplish is answering the left's prayers for a whipping boy more hateable than Newt Gingrich!

And you're IN FAVOR of this?

How many people knew deep down that Slick Willie was a pathological liar, and guilty of perjury, but didn't want to see conservatives beat him? Some of you people are just like them! It's amazing watching some of you act like Clintonoids all of a sudden, claiming to stand for a principle, but fighting the enforcing of it because you don't like the people who insist on justice!

Quit your whining about the race hustlers! They're doing what everyone expects of them! They are a reality of the political scene in this country, and if you don't want them to win, DON'T BE A FREAKING IMBECILE AND TALK ABOUT HOW A RACIST SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT!

I've no clue ... sounds intriguing, though.

Think Trent needs a new look. Mink is in, dear.

A new look might be just the ticket.

Can't hurt to Experiment a little ... surely a feller who wears a feather like that can get all his tickets from the Fashion Police fixed in a jiffy.

this boob has halted the GOP's momentum on a dime

Somebody had to do it.

Perpetual conflict's the name of the game. The more absurd the better. Weakens brains. Ratchets emotions.

Because this "Crisis" hits a ten on the Absurd Scale and also is neatly contained within the party -- within the One Man within the Party, no less -- I see it as a sign that the GOP has everything under control. As it should be.

God forbid we spend too much time wondering about Mr. Hanky's two-minute stint cut short by "conflict of interest" that curtailed Bush's bringing to bear (so to speak) the all-powerful Kissinger on the question of how some pennyante Saudis managed to start World War III with dramatic strikes at the WTC and ... oh, a bit later ... at the Pentagon in our nation's capital.

Go Trent Go!!

I wouldn't blame him if he did quit.

There is a decent sized list of things I would blame Mr. Lott for personally, but this isn't one of them.

"Take one for the team" sound good, but it's not just a political calculation to Trent, it's personal.

It's his life and his reputation. It's the way he's going to be viewed till the day he dies.

Any honest assessment of what happened would begin with his mistake and end with all the "conservatives" knowing and admitting it wasn't true, but abandoning him anyway.

How anyone can expect him to "take one for the team" while his team is throwing rocks at him is beyond me.

The rats screamed "racist" and the "Conservatives" all ran for cover.. Same old story.
