LOTT THREATENS TO QUIT THE SENATE IF FORCED FROM LEADERSHIP

Trent Lott, in a conference call with 27 GOP Senate Republicans today, said that he would leave the Senate if forced from the Leader position.

Jonathan Karl said three or four of the Senators viewed this as "blackmail," but that the majority still support Lott and want him to continue as Leader.

Just like there are cross dressers, there can be cross blackmails. But this entire thread may be based on an ersatz premise, due to the good detective work of Crasher. What annoys me is that Crasher may be smarter than I am, and as mature as I am, even though he is 30 years younger, and that is very annoying. Thank heavens I posted "if it is true" a lot. Lott will be blackmailed by the Dims for the next two years. The only way he can PROVE he isn't a racist is to vote for everything and anything the Black Caucus wants (and they want plenty!) Then the rest of the Republican senators will be painted with the same brush (thanks to Lott) and they too will have to vote for a lott of bad bills. This is going to cost us dearly if he stays as Majority Leader. We're going to be deluged with minority giveaway bills. He should be moved to the back bench ASAP.

You missed my point. 'W' has no more power to stop the Lott from stupid, ineffective leadership (with the Lott being the 2nd or 3rd most powerful man in the GOP) than anyone else.

Am I having a nightmare? In four years here I've almost never agreed with Sabertooth on anything and have almost never disagreed with Sinkspur. Now my world is turned upside down. Lott is an idiot and a poor excuse for a leader. Republican Senators must find the courage to give him the boot.
