LOTT THREATENS TO QUIT THE SENATE IF FORCED FROM LEADERSHIP
Newsnight with Aaron Brown | 12/13/2002 | Jonathan Karl

Posted on 12/13/2002 7:26:54 PM PST by sinkspur

Trent Lott, in a conference call with 27 GOP Senate Republicans today, said that he would leave the Senate if forced from the Leader position.

Jonathan Karl said three or four of the Senators viewed this as "blackmail," but that the majority still support Lott and want him to continue as Leader.

or the Republicans stand and fight against this obvious power play.

You are correct - but someway in a few months - we must get rid of Lott because he is not trustworthy in our fights with the dems. He caves in their favor and we pay the price. I don't expect Bush to feel kindly about a man who negotiates away the gains we fought so hard to make.

Yet, IMHO, we must stand up to the dems.

Two reasons

- against the PC movement that gets stronger and stronger and takes away our freedom of speech, thought, votes. Votes 30 years ago are coming back to haunt today's politicians. That is a travesty being used to "control" who gets to lead. Of course those doing the "controlling" are always the liberals.

- against the dems in their efforts to destroy our members in any way possible to gain back power. Since elections failed, vote fraud failed, their only option is to push out or switch enough members with an "R" after their name to regain control to prevent conservative judges being installed, to prevent any damage to abortion rights, to prevent another loss like they had in these elections.

I am not so impressed with cats

Poor cat! It was just looking for a litter box and all it could find was the bathtub. Looks to me like you did not provide the litter box or you failed to clean it.

No - we are not stupid -

Yes,you are.

it just does not matter a whit why Bush did or did not buy a ranch.

Then why did you make such a big deal about him being a "rancher"?

He has as much right to spend his money as he sees fit as you do.

Maybe he will buy a Harley next time so he can pretend he's a biker?

You are jealous of their success,

Oh,yeah. That must me it,huh? Couldn't possibly have anything to do with him selling the country down the creek, could it?

you paint a picture of him as a crook, a thief, and out to fool all of us.,/I>

You are fooling yourself.

The only one fooled is you - by your own jealousy, resentment of any who succeed

HorseHillary! Why in the world would I be jealous of the Republican version of Al Gore? Everything he is and everything he has he owes to family connections and payoffs. Otherwise he'd be selling doublewides somewhere.

and suspicious nature. You probably even think your mother cheated you.

Go back to sleep, little sheeple. Bubba Bush and his corporate commie pals will protect you.

I would bet you pour over any negative tripe about Bush you can find - it fits in so neatly with your view of the Bush world.

What's "Bush World" like? Are you tall enough to ride the rides?

Two terms as governor of Texas and great approval ratings as president.

Bubba-1 had how many terms as Governor of Arkansas? We know he was the president of the US for two full terms. Something which Bush-1 couldn't do,and Bush-2 won't be able to do,either. Even with the illegal alien vote.

An honest, honorable man who lives his faith.

Didn't Bubba-1 make this same claim? I remember seeing him on tv walking into a church with his bible in his hand.

Now - if he profits from his connections, if he profits from his dealings in oil - I do not care.

Of course not. Otherwise you wouldn't be a Bush-Bot. You are no different than the Clintroids who excused everything THEIR cult leader did or said.

If he did not profit - we would not want him having anything to do with the economy of America.

Uh,yeah. How about he sell a few pardons? That's always good for a quick profit.

You think I want a failure who was so stupid he did not make the best of what he had running our country?

Sounds like your natural leader to me. I do admire you coming right out and admitting you don't care about graft or corruption,as long as Bush is the one doing it.

Try next time to vote in an honest man that gets great people to man his government. Try to get one that sincerely cares for the people of this country and is strong in facing those that want to kill us. Get one that sets about changing the environmental abuses, the anti-God movement, one who lowers taxes, develops an energy program, and is a strong leader protecting our interests in a war against terrorism. Get one you can trust with your government.

Are you allowed to cross the street by yourself?

Me? I will vote for Bush because I have found those traits in this man and I am very thankful we have him.

You will vote for Bush because it beats having to think.

You just made the case for #861. Thanks.

Only in the mind of someone who makes a practice out of ignoring everything that contradicts his shallow and uninformed opinion.

Who are the "people insisting on justice?"

People who believe that no one who is stupid enough to say that a segregationist President would have 'prevented all the problems' of the nation should be in a leader in a political party!

You and others are making believe that the race hustlers are the only ones who find that statement inexcusable. Star Parker, a leading black conservative, has just added her voice for Lott to leave the Senate leadership post.

Please. They don't want "justice." They want a scalp.

What the race hustlers want is the Senate back under their control.

<< If I was Bush, at every event that Lott showed up at for face time, I would push his ass in front of the microphone with the introduction: "Now, another apology from this pompous dumbass cracker." >>

Sadly, their erstwhile allies; those with whom they would "stay on good terms" within the ranks of the official "DemocRATic" potty and the media; may be depended upon for that.

God save Our Beloved FRaternal Republic and the Judeo-Christian ["Human," that is] Civilization Our Nation vanguards FRom these self-elevated, self-electing and self-perpetuating RINO and other "DemocRATic" potty activists.

Bring back adherence to the Word of God, to Principle, to Moral Integrity and to the Tenets and Rule of Law descended FRom them and made sacred by their inclusion within Our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights!

Sighhhhhh ..............

Whole lotta name calling - just like the DU crowd.

Don't tell me,let me guess. They call people liars who say Bubba-1 didn't have the best interests of the country in mind,or that he was anything other than squeaky clean?

I think you are one of them.

No you don't. You are incapable of independent thought. Just keep chanting "Bush is the second coming of Christ, and my personal hero.",and go back to sleep, little sheeple.

A leader who threatens his troops...isn't that just ducky. Let's put that on his tombstone. But what is today is not necessarily what is for tomorrow.

I will think or like whom I please. I am perfectly able to make rational judgements on my leaders - afterall - I did not vote for Clinton or Gore.

If Bush is lying, cheating, stealing, pulling a fast one - I feel very, very confident it will be found out. Look - Bill Clinton has been revealed. Yet, after all these years in public life and during rabid campaigns sure is peculiar that none of this stuff surfaced or held water. Wonder why? Could it be it is pure propaganda?

I think you will find that most Americans are able to read a man. If any of your nonsense had a basis of truth it would have been put all over the airwaves by the liberal media. Nothing sticks to Bush no matter what they try.

Because Bush is what we see and people value his efforts.

"Wrong!!! Lott is going to plead his case next week on BET. I am sure when he is done, they will want to change MLK day to Trent Lott day."

Prepare for another ram when he gives the BET interview. Watch for him to promise to give away the store to appease them and prove he isn't racist. This guy's a walking time bomb. How much do you want to bet they'll bring up their dream request for the big one, -reparations. What will he say to that, eh?

This kind of hand-it-to-the-Dems stupidity is why we need to write off Lott as a lost cause.

This is exactly why Lott has proven to be such an ineffective leader in the past. His number one priority is himself, not the conservative cause, and not us.

It's beginning to emerge that the reason he made his remark about how the country would have been better off if Strom Thurmond had been elected President is because Lott has no idea what Thurmond stood for. In fact, the whole idea of 'standing for' something is probably alien to Lott.

I don't think Lott's capable of talking for an hour without putting his foot in it again. Good luck to the Republican party when Lott does his BET interview (interrogation).

Do you know anything about history and politics, or do you just like to type stupid things?

ROFL -- I was rereading some of these old threads because, you may recall, my view of this isn't as firm as others and I think you pretty much persuaded me to your point of view. But in the course of so doing, I must say, you have a very very pointed tongue in debate which I thoroughly, thoroughly admire! I perform that function a little for our DC Chapter, when someone posts something stupid here saying we shouldn't go and Freep someone, but I do think I could learn from you. :::whistling in amazement:::

It is amazing how even the "guilty" in our society have such a strong sense of entitlement. This is ego mania. He should be forced out and disenfranchised by the Senate before the 31st so that there has to be a new election in 90 days just for making the threat.

The President should tell him that if he leaves the Senate or the party that his value as a lobbiest will be zero if he wants to lobby the the party that can deliver for clients.
