Elevated seritonin (a major brain nuerotransmitter) is found to be in Alpha males in ape/monkey tests and helps account for their status in the group.
Perhaps Lott is on a form of steroids which account for his new found arrogance.
No joke, but Trent's becoming a joke.

The Lott definitely gets the Political GOP Darwin Award for '02. I hereby nominate him for the '...of the decade" one.

He's a good guy.
There's someone who realizes that the only fair way to separate men is by ideology, because that's what you choose. It say's everything about who you are inside.
Whereas your color is merely something you are born with.
The rats love to use a superficial and false standard like color to divide people, we need more Jessie Peterson's to give some kind of depth to these race issues.

It's a little early, but to top this would have to be stupifying to say the least...with all that is at stake, one wonders what could have been worse than letting the Lott rig the GOP Senate Leadership process.

All the Washington Post story basically does is report that some Lott allies have been mentioning the possibility of his leaving. As you point out, people have been doing so here. The article does nothing to suggest Lott himself is behind them.
If the ComPost had reason to believe he was, you may be sure they would mention it.
Have you noticed that the ComPost article specifically denies the report that was on CNN that Lott made the threat on the conference call? Shouldn't that tell you something?
To: rintense
So what is your plan, RWP?

This kind of hand-it-to-the-Dems stupidity is why we need to write off Lott as a lost cause. Right. If the Dems are going to have it handed to them, then let it be now, rather than have Lott rolling over on every controversial issue, Judicial appointment, etc. That's what he did for his Southern Brother Clinton.

Trent Lott, in a conference call with 27 GOP Senate Republicans today, said that he would leave the Senate if forced from the Leader position. If he said this in a childish fit of hurt feelings, which at first glance he did,in my opinion, he should be on the way out of town with a fully paid one way ticket back to old Miss post haste.
A full grown man with this kind of childish attitude has not the ability to lead.
To: VOYAGER; sinkspur
He did not say it. Look at my #1002. The Washington Post specifically denies he was on the conference call.
To: clodkicker; Bluntpoint
I'm sure there's some Trent Lott in there that needs to be disposed of.

Quick trivia question. Who were Dick "toe sucker" Morris' two most famous clients?
The answer is a good enough reason to suggest what should be done here.

I'm all for getting rid of Lott, but not now, and not over this.
Do you have any reaction to what the Washington Post actually says, as opposed to what was being reported on TV last night?
To: jwalsh07
I am offended that he is a dumbass. I am offended that he is now blackmailing the party to save his dumbass.
Did I mention he is a blackmailing dumbass?

Is this truly fact, he threatened such a thing? What a p*ssant.
Well, there is no choice *at*the*present*time* for the wise, the patient, and the prudent. We will keep Lott until the opportunity presents itself to kick his sorry butt. Not optimal, but we cannot lose the Senate.
Nothing else to do *right*now*. That doesn't mean there won't be in the near future.
To: Mamzelle
Is this truly fact, he threatened such a thing? He certainly did not do it as reported, on the conference call. I think we can take as a fact what the Washington Post reports, that he was not even on the conference call.
To: aristeides
I think the media is struggling to find legs on this story now. Lott actually did a decent job of defusing the story a bit with his press conference. There are going to be erroneous stories, leaks printed as reporters get desperate to feed the beast first.
Phase 2 though should be interesting. Most of the stuff dug out about Lott was actually from old stories. The CCC stuff was just googled by reporters and recycled. What will happen next is a swarm of reporters heading down to Mississippi this week-end, looking for dirt. They will find some.
That will be the battleground. Lott has barely survived phase I. If Lott ever went to a rally of supremacists, even as a youth... somebody will sell him out to the tabloids. I would not be surprised if the Enquirer isn't down in Trent's hometown waving cash around for photos of him doing something stupid. For Lott, I think... it is a waiting game. What they bring out on him next isn't as important as the timing of it. If they find something juicy this week... he is toast. If it isn't til say late January, it won't matter for the most part.
Lott is going to be praying that the locks hold on the closet where all the skleletons are buried, make nice on BET, and that is just my two cents.

Let's hope the Republicans are doing similar research on people like Byrd and Hollings.

I live on a farm. I do not have house cats. But the "independent" little cuddle bums always dart through the door when the kids open it.
Catbox? If this keeps up, the only box I will provide will have the inscription:
"Within lies dear Friskee: Died due to bladder and colon dysfunction."
To: Bluntpoint
He didn't do what is alleged. Why can't you get your facts straight?
