Grand Old Segregationists Trent Lott said what he said—and for the second time. Can this be a blessing in disguise for the moribund Democrats?

Dec. 13 — Not one Republican member in the next Congress is African-American, and that’s not surprising. The modern GOP is built on a legacy of racism. Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” set the poisonous tone, and Republican candidates continue to exploit racial fears for political gain.

Here it goes. The demogogue-democratic dominated press is using the Trent Lott statement to wave the bloody flag of racism, and slander ALL republicans. I think Bush was right to rebuke Lott. But BUSH MUST REBUKE THE ATTEMPS BY THE LIBERALS to divide the country and slander roughly half the population

Race drove last weekend’s runoff election in Louisiana. GOP flyers distributed in black areas sought to depress turnout with the rumor, “If the weather’s bad, don’t worry, you can vote on Tuesday.”

Where is there any proof of this? If anything, the dems used the race card in the Louisiana Senatorial election to scare the blacks into voting by telling them a Republican in office would put them back in the fields. The hubris of these people never ceases to amaze me.

I think the old trick of race baiting will backfire on the democrats. We have the internet now and I think this will just add people to the Republican ranks. If Lott had said the N word or something more blatant it might have worked but he said something that they have twisted around to mean racism. Let them continue, it will only help us. BTW, I still want Lott out of there but not for this.

I wish to God Republicans would get past their dislike of Lott and move on to the bigger issue here- responding to absolutely ridiculous charges from liberals. If any of you who think this will end if Lott resigns, you have another thing coming because they are going to go after every single Republican nominated from here on out.

This isn't about a stupid comment from Lott.

This isn't about getting a majority leader with a spine, as some have said.

This is about standing up for what is right. And by wanting Lott to resign, every single one of you are playing into Democrat hands.

This is about EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN growing a spine and fighting back against absolutely baseless and false allegations from a corrupt group of liberals who can not face the reality of a Republican majority. The stereotype against Republicans will not change until we challenge them, and set the record straight.

Now those of you who dislike Lott can ride this issue to Lott's demise. But I for one am not going to let the Democrats continue to foster the completely false stereotype that Republicans are racist.

Eleanor just wishes she could've been the one under Clinton's desk instead. Have you seen this woman on the talk show circuit? A more bitter and hateful woman would be difficult to imagine. Never once have I seen her smile.

Yup. If anyone thinks "we're gonna be hearing about this for the next two years if Lott doesn't step down," allow me to slam the ClueBat&tm; onto your mushy skulls, people. If Lott steps down, the RATS will go after EVERY REPUBLICAN.
